隨著信息時代的飛速發展，各個國家，各個地區，甚至每個個體單位都在通過紛繁的傳播媒介進行著交流。交流的極度方便與頻繁也就決定了全球化的到來。經濟的全球化和世界的一體化使得世界上不存在任何一個絕對封閉的生存空間，那么文化的彼此交叉與滲透也成為必然，各種文化在交鋒中激烈地碰撞與融合，文化多元化成為全球化時代的必然趨勢。電影作為跨文化傳播的重要媒介，在全球化的文化生活中發揮著日益重要的作用。而通過研究李安的電影中的跨文化傳播方式，可以去更深入的解讀異國的生活方式、社會習俗、價值體系、道德標準等表層和深層的文化。
